Studio D’Artisan – DM-002 (3 months wear)

3 months ago I got my SDAXDenimio contest jeans, that means that they also have 3 months of wear time. They haven’t been washed yet, and I don’t know when they will be. But I think that there are not so long before I will give them a soak.

Impression so far

Overall I like the jeans very much, and they are of a high quality. The construction of the jeans are on point, they have no loose threads, the sewing is very uniform and is very precise. And when you have the jeans in hand they just feel like a tier 1 pair of raws.
The fabric is slowly beginning to show some fades, but they are not fast faders. That are for me totally fine, rather some beautifully faded jeans that have taken a little longer, than some quick fades that don’t have character.

The details like the sashiko coin pocket are ageing very well.

Likes / Dislikes

Some minor things that don’t rock my boat are the weight of the denim and the thigh. The jeans are 15oz and I really like jeans that are over 18oz. Towards the thigh, it is a little too wide, but when they get their first wash they will hopefully be spot on.
Another thing that is not optimal for me, is the fabric. At the moment I like slub denim a lot, and this denim is very uniform and tightly woven. This is not meant in a bad way, it is just my taste at the moment.
Towards my next pair of denim, I need to wear a pair of Indigo/Indigo or Indigo/Black that has some slub, so my radar is out to find a pair of that…

I have treated the patch with some coconut oil, it gave it a little more shine.

Fit

The fit is almost ideal for me, only the thigh is a little too big. But I think that when I soak/wash, the fit will be on point.
