Appetiser
This is my first item from RGT, and what a thing to start with! This is an absolutely awesome pair of denim. When I first got them out of the package the thing that caught my eye was the very clean fabric, that looks like being very tight woven so the fabrics are very smooth and uniform. I have a pair of Edwin jeans that also use fabric from Nihon Menpu, and like that fabric, this is also clean and without any slubs.
First of I ordered the SK fit but they were way to tight on the knees/calves, so I returned them for a pair of Stantons in the same size.
I like the fact that Karl the owner of RGT likes to do things differently, an example is that the Karl wanted to do something different than using the arcuate’s on the back pocket that many other denim makers do. Karl then came up with the signature RGT lasso, its a nice touch to the jeans and it isn’t too flashy. For some more insight into RGT read the interview that Cultizm made with Karl, there is some really interesting stuff in there.
A thing that also drags me towards brands like RGT, is that I get the feeling that the people that run it, really is interested in making the best quality clothing. They are so passionate about their product and want to give you the best possible experience with their products.
Details of the denim:
- 15.25oz sanforized pure indigo Japanese selvedge denim
- The denim is custom-made for RGT by Nihon Menpu
- Signature hidden pen pocket in back right pocket
- Hidden cotton reinforcement in button fly, reinforced back pockets
- Selvedge detail along button fly
- Hand branded leather cowhide patch
- Chain-stitched hems
- Made in USA, Los Angeles
As a side note, I’m gonna take part in the Instagram fade contest that RGT is holding.
So this pair are gonna get full wear time after the Denimio contest has ended (Oni X Samurai), that is ending the first week of July. But I will rotate them in already now with the Oni’s, so they get some wear.
The fit:
The Stanton fit runs slim in the top and thighs and tapers a little bit from the knee down to the leg opening. To compare with some other brands I would say that it is close to my Elephant 4 weird guy. First of I picked the SK fit but as mentioned earlier the knees/calves were way too tight. The only thing about the Stanton fit that is a little bit downside for me, is the leg opening. But overall these have a solid fit, amazing fabric and are made from people that love what they are doing.
And let me say this is defiantly not my last item from RGT. One piece I am looking into is their work shit, with neppy denim.
I will make some updates on the pair along the way, both here but also on Instagram.
